‘Humidity’ is simply the concentration of water vapour present in the air. While there are three primary measurements of humidity, absolute, relative and specific, it is relative humidity that is most widely used. Relative humidity, expressed as a percentage, indicates a present state of absolute humidity relative to a maximum humidity given the same temperature. Too high or too low a humidity level can cause development of mould or mildew, provide an environment conducive to insects, thus causing havoc to your valuable or sentimental belongings.
